Summer is almost here! The Willington Karate Club and the Pride Lasts Foundation will soon close the currant Charitable Giving season. This year we will present two Pride Lasts Foundation awards to help two graduating 8th graders make their transition to High School and hopefully continued success. The 2007/2008 year was our most successful year to date. We raised almost $100.00 for the Pride Lasts Foundation which means the Award fund was almost self-sufficient! The Members of the Willington Karate Club continue to subsidize the scholarship. Looking forward we want to double our efforts to raise enough money to present no less then 4 awards in 4 towns next year. With the support and enthusiasm we have seen this past year this seems a realistic goal. With luck and a few of the new programs we are implementing we hope to surpass this goal. As we spread the word and increase our fundraising efforts we plan to increase our award offering and to begin offering outreach programs to help underprivileged or disadvantaged students to take Pride in themselves, strive to Succeed and learn to be Productive citizens. We live in a world where efforts like ours are crucial to maintaining our society and freedoms. Please help us today in any way you can.
I am certain you can remember the difficulties and challenges of growing up. We grew up in a much simplier and safer world then our children now face. The uncertainities that face today's youth, effect their ability to take Pride in themselves and find the reason to strive for success. To be dissenfranchised at such a young age is not a new problem however it is a much more prevalent problem. Sometimes a kind word or a moment of recognition is all it takes to change someones life, please take a moment and help us change the course of a young persons life today!
Like the Challenges of this past year, we are eagerly looking forward to our next challenges.
